I don't go extremely easy on these devices, and previous products I've bought from desertcart both had some sort of annoying issues, such as: 1. Clips holding lenses in did not hold 2. Glasses-type magnifier was too heavy and the provided headstrap would not stay on the ear pieces 3. Bad wiring on glasses-type magnifier This one has several features which prevent the above problems: It goes completely around the head like some other models, and has a sturdy push/pull knob at the back to lock your size. Pull the knob and turn to adjust. The headband is cushioned. This might get dirty, eventually though, and the cushions are not removable. You can probably detach the band from the rest of the unit though and let the whole assembly soak in some soapy water, rinse, squeeze out the water and allow to dry. The front of the unit has two clip-in slots for the provided lenses, and it comes with five different lenses of varying magnifications. With two installed, you can flip up the front lens and only view through the rear, or you can flip the front lens down and look through both, giving you a combined magnification which is stronger than the others on their own. The light section is actually a module you can remove from the rest of the device, and the battery compartment is at the bottom of the assembly. You get two light tones, one white and the other orange-ish, and you can mix the two as well. There are also two brightness settings. Overall, the unit is sturdy, and no pieces become dislodged or move when setting the unit down in what I would call a normal way, unlike other options. The headband mounts connecting to the front portion of the unit have the expected adjustment knobs for adjusting the angle of the lighting unit up and down and tightening it in place. There are also hinges on each side of the band to make it more flexible. So far the battery life has been good. The polycarbonates are a family of plastic but are not as brittle as glass (won't crack/chip as easily) and are much lighter than glass. Great for dry eye sufferers. *by S***A on August 13, 2025* I gave only four stars because there is no case included and because it uses batteries for the light rather than being rechargeable. I am going to try two more like this (see video for the one I decided to keep, and why it was not this AmsOpto one) but this is very comfortable and works excellently. It is far better than the ones that have the nose clips on them. I wear glasses and the nose clip types really get in the way and put a lot of weight on my nose. This has excellent padding on the forehead and the back of the head so that it is easily movable while wearing it and there is just a little getting used to having something around your head. But it’s very easy to adjust to it. I would have given it five stars if it had a case and if it was a rechargeable light source. I also posted a video here. By the way, the lenses on this are much wider than other ones that I have tried so far. It makes it much easier to see as I am not having to adjust to looking past the edges of smaller lenses. Also, it’s easier to grab the lens and adjust it out of the way without having to put my fingers on it in such a way that would make smudges. See video.
