## Overview

Wonder Forge Disney Gargoyles: Awakening is a cooperative strategy board game featuring six detailed miniatures of beloved characters from the 1990s Disney cartoon. Players team up to defend a 3D Manhattan cityscape against iconic villains through four unique episodes, including a mode where one player commands the villains. Designed for 2-5 players aged 10+, it combines nostalgia with strategic depth, enhanced by custom dice, hero cards, and immersive components—all in a ready-to-play package that develops teamwork and tactical skills.

## Description

One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled. It was a time of darkness. It was a world of fear. It was the age of Gargoyles. Stone by day, warriors by night, we were betrayed by the humans we had sworn to protect, frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years. Now here in Manhattan, the spell is broken, and we live again! We are defenders of the night. We are Gargoyles! In this cooperative strategy game, players work together as Goliath, Brooklyn, Broadway, Hudson, Lexington, and NYPD detective Elisa Maza to defend Manhattan. Use your character’s unique abilities to defeat Xanatos and Demona in one of four episodes. Each player turn has three phases performed in the following order: Hero, Villain, and Refresh. During the Hero phase, players can move, glide, attack, or play a Hero card from their hand. During the Villain phase, Xanatos, Demona, and their minions attack! Finally, players draw cards in the Refresh phase. During Daytime, players and Villains heal and recuperate before the next battle!

Review: Really fun and well made. - Really fun game. Very similar to HeroQuest, but Gargoyles themed. I can't wait to see if an expansion for it will come out with more episodes, boards and characters.
Review: 28-32mm Miniature scale, very nostalgic - Picked this up on sale essentially to get the minis for $2 each. The game looks OK, the box and included design is very reminiscent of the show and honestly pretty lovingly created. I hear the included rules are a bit shallow, and that the structures won't fit in the box when constructed. I was a fan of the show. A little disappointed the dog one (Bronx! I had to look up his name), Demonia, and Xander aren't included as figures, but I guess they were hoping to make an expansion. There seems to be 2 distinct listings (with same materials?) so maybe it did get a reprint which means some hope... some. 3D printing can solve those missing figures, if I can find files that match the fidelity of sculpt that went into these. The plastic is a bit robust and flexible, a pleasant speckled design, needing a little hot water treatment to unbend a wing or two, and a little flashing. Great game pieces, that critique is for anyone who is looking to paint these.

Really fun game. Very similar to HeroQuest, but Gargoyles themed. I can't wait to see if an expansion for it will come out with more episodes, boards and characters.
