I was wrong. It's much sturdier than the Drive units I have purchased in the past. I use the bath lift every time I get in the tub. The last Drive unit lasted less than a year. It quit in the down position (completely recharged) and I had to call the fire department at 1 AM (night owl) to get me up and out of the tub. How embarrassing. The poor young fireman is probably scarred for life, having to pick up a fat, naked, old woman out of the tub. Anywhere, the new unit is working fine. It has a metal lift pole versus the Drive plastic one and I just feel more secure with it. It also lowers into the water farther than the Drive unit. I have an 18-inch deep tub and I can feel the difference in depth. I do wish it had the built-in hook for the hand control that the Drive unit has.
