The brass metal look and toe adjustment adds a refinement to the shoe tree. Most at this price range don't have the metal knob for grip and refined look. Taking shoe trees out is a simple pull up on the metal knob. I expect this to get easier as the shoe trees get used more. My only draw back would be they weren't made in the states. I know most items aren't so that is why I mentioned quality control.
