The Process to make your art stones/rocks - You will need to purchase the gypsum powder or a casting powder separately to make your stones/rocks - I like using Ultracal 30 (highest strength gypsum - it is harder, heavier and better for painting than plaster of paris). However most casting powders work really well eg Dental Plaster, Hydrocal plasters or other casting plasters available from hardware shops. Mix the casting powder with water following the directions provided with the mixture. Pour into the mould. Wait approximately 6 hours or overnight. This is the fun bit! - Turn out your art stone/rock. It comes out beautifully smooth! Allow to dry for a day or two. It's 3" which is a great size, but it doesn't make a flat stone. I thought I was ordering the 3" mold made by this company that is flatter. I did not realize there was one that makes a higher stone. Having an option for a flat stone or a more rounded one is nice. I have the 4" mold by HDC and my stones turn out great and release nicely.
