Digital C print. Limited edition, hand -signed and titled by the photographer, Robert Gambee. Over 1500 of his images are in major museums. The original of this image was taken with a twin lens Roleiflex Camera at the West Side Piers. Each steamship company had its own then. Friends could simply sit at the edge of the pier and wait for the QE 2 to arrive. The woman at the left is gazing up from her copy of "The New York Times" showing a full back page ad for Gimbel's Department Store. This image was taken in 1974 and published in Mr. Gambee's second book, "Manhattan Seascape--Waterside Views Around New York." All ten of his photography books are at Amazon. His work has been compared to that of Bernice Abbott and others. A rare, one-of-a-kind silver gelatin print from the museum collections may be available. 14" x 14" @ $2100.
