You'll need a small Phillips or cross-head screwdriver. Amazon carries reasonably-priced replacement batteries. **Q: I love these lights but 3 out of the 4 are no longer working - no apparent outside damage. do the led lights need to be changed?** A: I’ve not had a problem with mine so I can’t answer your question. I don’t know if the led bulbs are replaceable. Sorry I couldn’t help **Q: Does it withstand cold temperatures like freezing cold weather?** A: I’ve had it out in some rain with fine results, no real freezing temperatures but I would imagine it would wear out the mechanics.
