Review: Delicious - it will surprise you - Haggis is often viewed as disgusting by anyone who hasn't tried it, and that reputation is undeserved to the max. This is some dang fine food. The best way to describe it is as a very savory meaty flavor with heavy earthy undertones, as well as heavily spiced, and I mean earthy/aromatic spice, not heat. The meatiness aspect is not gamey, which i know a lot of people would expect it to be, given the ingredients. My mom refuses to eat red meat, even ground beef, yet when I basically forced her to try a single bite, not only did she immediately clean the plate, she went back for seconds, and then went back for thirds. For anyone new trying this, try browning it in a pan with a bit of butter. You'll enjoy it. I've bought and enjoyed this stuff numerous times, and will continue to do so in the future.

My two sisters and brothers did not enjoy it., on the other hand did very much so. As a connoisseur of different delectables, that one might be able to put on a saltine cracker I believe this would be great.. It has good taste good flavor, low sodium or low salt., it was fantastic. I ate half the can in front of my and they were all vomiting., 21 years military you eat a lot of different things that she didn't think of eating, but I would have to say that if I was a Scottish soldier during that time. I would be healthy and this is a delicious item.. anybody that wants to try something different. Keep an open mind that this was a delicious product.. thank you bert

## Questions & Answers

**Q: why is pork mixed in with this?**
A: The only reason I could think of is filler. The U.S. does not allow certain lamb organs (liver, lungs, etc.) to be imported in food. Grant's is imported from the U.K. and is more like traditional with all of the classic lamb organs. The Caledonian Kitchen Haggis offers lamb, highland beef, or sirloin and by far the tastiest haggis outside of Scotland. The only meats in the Caledonian Kicthen brand are lamb with beef liver added in place of lamb liver/lungs. So if you can't eat pork and are not worried about 100% traditional, C.K. is the way to go in any flavor.

**Q: How can this be “traditional” if it does not have lung meat?**
A: You can also buy canned haggis just like this in Scotland, but lung is an ingredient that is not allowed to ship in the US. It is good haggis, but the last two cans I ordered came badly dented and cannot be returned. The price has almost doubled since I first ordered these last year as well.

**Q: What is haggis?**
A: Tradionally ground lamb with oatmeal/grains cooked in a sheep’s stomach.

**Q: is this FULL of onions or only a few?**
A: It has very few onions which really can’t be tasted.

After spending 3 weeks in Scotland and eating a ton of haggis, I found myself craving it after we got back to the states. For canned haggis, this stuff is pretty good. It's a tad on the salty side which is why I gave it 4 stars. The spices are spot on. You can taste a hint of the iron from the organ meat but overall it's pretty good.
