Review: Best Dog-Item choice we've made so far - When I saw these, I thought, "Oh cool, something easy and that holds a decent amount of water without being too expensive." Seriously, these little gems exceeded my expectations. And that's rare, because half the things we try to buy don't work out nearly as well as we'd hoped. Not these. We have two growing pups, and two kennels plus a playpen. One kennel has thinner cross-bars, and the pail needed no adjustment to be hung inside. The other kennel has slightly thicker cross-bars, so we did have to carefully widen out the hanging hooks. Because I saw some remarks about them breaking, we were careful to hold at the weld and use pliers to gently widen out the hang sections of the hooks. Took us maybe 5 minutes to get it to hang. No breaks or cracks. Everything is still quite solid, hangs well, and can easily be removed to clean / refill. Plus, because these pails are metal, the water stays nice and cool. My 4-month-old lab pups who drink like crazy, have not yet had a night where they've run dry. Always still about 1/3 - 1/2 full in the morning (6-7 hour stretch). Our cat even sneaks into the kennels or playpen to drink from them. We usually transfer one from a kennel to the playpen, but might just buy another simply so the cat can have more spots. :D Sometimes, simple truly is best.
Review: Perfect, and preferred over other bowls - My dogs love these. I have one in a kennel for my 11# dachshund, the other on the outside for my other 50# dog. I have noticed my dogs prefer to drink from this smaller bowl/ bucket than the large bowl nearby. Even my cat prefers these over the other bowl. This is even when freshly cleaned and filled. The hooked part on the back is firm but was ready enough to slightly bend to fit their crate. Has held up for a few years now, no issues or noticeable wear aside from an occasional ding.

When I saw these, I thought, "Oh cool, something easy and that holds a decent amount of water without being too expensive." Seriously, these little gems exceeded my expectations. And that's rare, because half the things we try to buy don't work out nearly as well as we'd hoped. Not these. We have two growing pups, and two kennels plus a playpen. One kennel has thinner cross-bars, and the pail needed no adjustment to be hung inside. The other kennel has slightly thicker cross-bars, so we did have to carefully widen out the hanging hooks. Because I saw some remarks about them breaking, we were careful to hold at the weld and use pliers to gently widen out the hang sections of the hooks. Took us maybe 5 minutes to get it to hang. No breaks or cracks. Everything is still quite solid, hangs well, and can easily be removed to clean / refill. Plus, because these pails are metal, the water stays nice and cool.
