My preschooler takes the empty plate to school. The school provides the food. The container is leak proof so there is no mess when my child brings the dirty container back from school. I would not recommend using this plate to pack lunches though, because nothing separates the compartments from each other. I wish the wells were a bit deeper, but the depth seems pretty standard on similar products. This is much cheaper then competitors as well.
