To condition, I leave it in for about 10 minutes in the shower, detangle, and wash it out. Because my hair is extremely dry and coily, I use it as a leave in conditioner as well. I apply a small amount of the Hydrating Cream conditioner and a small amount of the Quiet Calm curl control to soaking wet hair, making sure to distribute well, and towel dry with a microfiber towel. It is a very dense conditioner, a little goes a long way if used on clean, soaking wet hair. **Q: What is the shelf life once open?** A: 1year **Q: How do I open the pump? Do I twist it to the left or right?** A: I think I turn it to the right to open it. Sometimes I have to unscrew the pump and hold the lower part while I turn the upper part to get it to pop up. The smell is pleasant enough (I don't like strong smells), and it seems fairly natural. Isn't harsh on hair, doesn't dry it out.
