It's clear and you can see the backlighting, but a plus is that it gives my keyboard a really cool, almost metallic look to it.The one at Apple costs around $25 and I cannot justify spending that much. For less than $8 you can get pretty much the same thing. I highly recommend this, it will protect your keyboard and keep it free of dirt. Not much to say beyond that, other than advising that people carefully read their selection to make sure they're getting the correct one.
