Its all you need for home defense application within 20 yards. If your eyes are not quite there get the 3x magnifier and you are good to 100+ yards. More than sufficient for any home/property defense application for most of us. Also not bad for Eastern US hunting applications within 150 yards. Build quality and weather resistance are phenomenal. These are not lightweight but unless you are a professional tac operator who cares. The weight helps add mass to reduce recoil thus putting you on follow up shots quicker. Together they weigh about a pound I think but again this is not an issue for the majority of us in realistic use cases. A couple of irritants...the Leos laser and red dot are not aligned at the factory so you have to do it. Its not hard but it will cost you some extra cash for ammo/range time or a laser bore sight. The Magnifier comes set up on the wrong side for right hand weapons. The tilt off is to the right above the ejection port. Switch it out so it goes left. This is pretty easy (2 minutes and the Allen wrench is included) just be sure the spring lock clears your red dot since the lock spring will now go forward (no worries if you don't nail it on the first try its less than a minute to correct). In the end it took less than 10 minutes to open, unbox and mount both of these products and about 30 minutes on the range to align the back-up sights, red dot, laser and center the magnifier. These are great products in themselves and simply phenomenal for the price if your intended application is home defense and/or hunting within 150 yards. He was understanding, and more than assisting, as he offered to help fix the issue by sending me another mount for the scope. not only does the product look great, and feel good on the gun, but the customer service that came with this purchase was exceptional! Overall I am very satisfied with the feel, I've only used the red dot so far and its clear, tight, and very accurate. I am eager to get the mount for the scope, so I can test her out, but again it looks stunning mounted on the gun and I love the fact I can use the scope with the red Dot or just the red dot. It matted up perfectly with the spacers out. I even had room under the 3x mag to fit a Magpul flip up sight (just barely though) and had a co witness almost in the center of the red dot with 3x mag turned out. My only complaint is the push button, it did not engage and disengage well, (the button got stuck and made a fast flip out difficult) I Tom it apart and greased and tightened but it still does not function properly. You can buy a better mount by itself , but I finally set this unit aside and purchased a Vortex 3x for around $199 and I am totally satisfied with how this works **Q: Can it be flipped to either side?** A: The directions say it can be flipped to the right. But it would be in the path of the ejected round. About an inch or so. **Q: Does this unit have a diopter adjustment?** A: No **Q: Can anyone share a comparison to the much more expensive vortex??** A: I cannot. This one works very well for me. Great glass with clear magnification. And is less than Vortex. Best of luck with whichever you decide on. Had a problem with the flip mount ( the rod came out too far making the return flip difficult , however I too, it apart and tightened the front and back set nut and added blue lock tight and so far it works as designed . The glass is a little less than perfect on the focus end but for the money this was expected. The optic itself seems durable. I was able to mount the magnafier on top of my BUIS and the clearance is tight but works. I use this set up on PCC carbine for USPSA competition and works fine on the 25yds plus targets. For the money not a bad upgrade. Update. The mount never was able to stay fixed. The button still comes out to far and is a pain to to return magnifier to up right position.
