I had bought a 300w modified sine wave inverter and discovered that it seemed to use a fair amount of electricity itself, plus it ran hot, and it made LED bulbs flicker and a small desk fan hum.This unit, although the same 300 w is quite a bit larger than the modified sine wave inverter, at least 1/2 again in size. It requires you to install a ground wire, so I didn't use immediately since I had to buy a rod, plus wire. The attachment for the ground is quite small, seems to be geared towards either a thin wire or to you putting on a loop at the end. Once I had the ground connected I attached it to the batteries and then plugged in first an LED light and it worked without flickering, Next I plugged in the small desk fan and it worked better without any hum. After the fan which uses in the region of 58 - 70 w had been running for about 5 minutes, the fan on the inverter came on and remained running. The inverter itself remained quite cool though. When the fan is off, the inverter doesn't seem to draw much since the battery voltage didn't vary.The plug at the back is a universal one but the output is only 110v. It looks weird but it will accommodate US two and three prong plugs. I haven't had any problems with the plug getting dislodged.Will update as time goes on, but so far I am quite pleased with the inverter. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Ditch the Universal Power Outlet for it doesn't hold the plug tight. *by J***H on August 16, 2017* I bought this unit to power my Television, Audio Amplifier and BD/DVD Player in the RV. My only argument is the "Universal Power Outlet" doesn't hold the plug very well. It is very loose. I was forced to "Jerry Rig" the plug by securing it with cable ties. If you're driving in a RV with all the shaking going on, the plug will be the first thing to come out. I was going to mount the unit beneath the dinette bench seat with the Breaker / Converter Box and will not be simple to just plug it in each time.
