I think the item did more harm than good. I wear women's size 9.5 shoe, I am not overweight, and the item would not cover the affected bunion area, even with trimming the loop so that it could slide down further. It must be worn with a sock, as it didn't stay put. The toe separator, I have worn others, was impossibly uncomfortable. I even tried to trim that down too - the toe separator was as if it bunched up under the second toe.
