I might add that I have had many stud finders over the years and some more expensive than this one and this has been the best. **Q: Can this detect electrical wires?** A: No. This model does not detect electrical wiring. I don't think Franklin has a model for detecting electrical current. However it is the best I have found that can detect wall studs accurately. **Q: Does it work thru plaster/wood lathe?** A: I can only tell you that it worked through dry wall and It did recognize the wood studs around a door. And it worked exactly as described. I suspect that it will work through plaster, but I have no plaster in my house.
