Don't fall prey to imitations. The lenses in these glasses are engineered to give "true color" and they do! They are crystal clear with no imperfections. The matte nickel, bead blasted frames are most attractive and do not reflect light. The temple braces fit snugly to the head and do not cause pressure on the ears like regular sunglasses. I have several other pilot's glasses including Ray Ban's and the AO's are much more comfortable when worn for long periods.Overall, I don't see a need to spend a lot of $$ on fashion sunglasses that aren't for real. If you are a pilot, these will be your favorites. They make cloud formations stand out nicely. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best value and quality out there *by T***A on October 4, 2015* I have always bought the $20-30 plastic lensed sunglasses that because I'd lose or break sunglasses no matter what they cost, but I was considering finally biting the bullet and buying a very high end pair of Oakleys or RayBans for $200+. I have never been able to bring myself to buy a high, high end pair of sunglasses, mainly because I still tend to be too rough on them, scratch them or lose them too quickly. However, I'd reached the point where I was about to do so because the glare and warped view of the world given by the cheap sunglasses was driving me nuts. I wanted to see the world clearly. That's when I came across a review of the American Optical Pilot glasses.Wow! Fantastic value! The clarity and durability of the glass is unlike any other pair of glasses I've ever owned. It is a real pleasure to wear a pair of sunglass that don't flare up when looking sunward. And they just don't scratch.But the thing that surprised me the most is how comfortable they are. I've never worn glasses with the aviator bayonet frame arms (rather than the over the ear arms) and I am pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and sturdy they are. When I wear over the ear frames, they tend to weaken over time and the hinge breaks after a while. Those saying they are better than high end glasses have probably never owned a pair. They are much lighter weight than both of my Ray bans, which can be a good thing. But the frames are thin...almost too thin, to the point of cheapy. The glass is quality and super clear, but also thin.Size wise, I got the 57s and I wish they were wider, but I have a pretty big noggin. The style is great...classic. You won't set any trends wearing these, they just look good.They are better than any cheapo glasses you'll find at target or wal-mart by far and for around $50, they are well worth the price.
