Is definitely on the bassy side which you would expect from a speaker called "thump", but not in a bad way. The EQ allows you to control the bass if you would prefer less. I had no problem with the app, which works well. I have a pair of these speakers to stream Bluetooth as well as for connecting to a mixer in a stereo pair and they worked well in either role. **Q: How do you stop unwanted control from other people pranking with their phone? Being, there is no password protection.**
A: You have to pair it with the speaker by engaging the pair function on the speaker first. Once paired the app would need to be installed to be controlled. It only accepts one at a time.
