I'm thinking turpentine is the only thing that would clean it and a new towel would be more economical and more environmentally safe. I tried Dawn to soak the towel in. No luck. Tried alcohol and windex on the jar husband used that had it all over the outside of the jar. Windex with a lot of scrubbing removed most of the residue.
