I went with the regular AAA batteries although it comes with the adapter to fit your interchangeable rechargeable battery unit. It is built like a tactical flashlight, but unless you are fighting germs or scorpions I don't know why. It has a handy pocket clip and wrist lanyard. The recessed button on the end is functional - you can stand it on either end. I have other such UV lights, but this one is the strongest and best of the bunch. The other little LED bulbs are weak in this size - you would need a big flashlight to do better. This is compact, solid, and functional.

**Q: Has anyone found this useful in detecting ringworm?**
A: If you have ringworm you probably ready know.... I was successful in killing the ringworm in minutes using this.  Place it directly over the infected area and light it up for 10 or 15 minutes.

Afterwards it will itch greatly, but then subside.   I repeated this for a week for only 5 minutes to be sure, but I believe it was gone after the first instance.

It worked for me!

**Q: Do both wavelengths work at same time or can you switch?**
A: The two wavelengths can not work at the same time, but switching wavelengths is very simple, half press the switch can be.

This is a solid UV flashlight with both 365 and 395 nm Cree light elements. You can immediately tell the difference when you click from one to the other in picking up different substances. You might not like what you find in your bathroom, but you put light on the subject! Obviously, either wavelength works better in the dark. The price was decent (better even on sale) for the usual aircraft aluminum body with variable zoom focus. I went with the regular AAA batteries although it comes with the adapter to fit your interchangeable rechargeable battery unit. Well, it works! Over the years, one of our dogs started using our sun room as a toilet at night if she had to go. This has become increasingly frustrating since we sometimes don't know until we see a dried strain, at which point we would use a spot cleaner on it. After a recent vacuum, however, I spotted several suspicious areas that I hadn't seen previously, so I marked them with sticky notes and dug this flashlight out for a more comprehensive test. Sure enough, it found all the sticky note spots plus two more that I can't see with my naked eye even knowing where to look. Grr. Attached are two of the spots using the purple dog-pee setting as well as a video of the numerous areas around the room. Some of them didn't show up well in the video, sorry, but they're definitely lit up in person. For better or worse, this light works for dog matter at least. After verifying that what I found myself was indeed what I thought plus finding spots that I couldn't see (but that can now be cleaned, yay), I'm very pleased with this black light. Not pleased with the dog, but pleased with the light. :p
