**Q: is the post solid or hollow? thinking about drilling a hole and tapping it so it will mount on a cymbal stand.  Diameter?**
A: This post is made out of solid plastic. Otherwise it would snap under the weight and pressure of mounting it. Hope this helps...

A: approx 3/4 to 1 inch.Sorry it's packed up with my gear.

Nothing broke, but I wanted to point out that the clamp that grabs the actual pad mount does not have the same tightening resistance as any old cymbal stand wing nut but definetely is clamping down on the mount, which makes me wonder if i was about to break it, other than that works like a charm
