Review: Great pull-up bar. Works great and remains in place without damaging anchors. - The Garren pull-up bar was exactly as advertised and even better than I expected. I was nervous ordering a wide bar for an entry way in my home both because of the distance that I needed it to span (50") and also causing any damage to my walls. However, this bar worked very well. It was relatively easy to install, although I do recommend that you use a level to make sure that everything is lined up. It fastened to the wall using 4 screws on each side and once the bar itself was extended and anchored to the brackets it feels extremely sturdy, even near the widest settings. I also appreciate that once it is time to remove the bar and brackets, it will be simple to plug the screw holes, similar to anything that you would hang on your wall. In total I think it took me about 15 minutes to pick a spot to install it, check for stud that would be able to support weight, line everything up and drill the holes. I'd also like to highlight the customer service. The company made sure to reach out to me once the product was delivered to ask if I had any issues or questions. They also asked me if I had a chance to use the pull up bar and that it was still anchored correctly after a few days usage. Overall I'm very happy with the product and would recommend it to anyone look for a wider pull-up bar.

The top bar is at pull-up height and will stay permanently installed while the second bar is at ballet barre height and will be taken down when not in use. While the bar is sturdy and I have no concerns about falling, it does have a slight give since installation is close to the maximum length and the bar is made of 2 end pieces threaded to a middle tube. Nevertheless, it feels solid enough to hang upside down on, though I’m sure that’s not recommended, lol. **Q: Will I be able to take down the pull up bar when it’s not in use?**
A: You can, but it’s really meant to stay put wherever you decide to put it. For the most secure mounting, First you drill the ancho cups into the wall. Then you “unscrew” the ends of the bars to lengthen it till it’s tight against the cups and use a small retaining screw to keep the bar from being able to shorten and fall out.

**Q: Can this be mounted onto drywall?**
A: Without a wood stud behind the drywall, I fear the screws would work their way loose over time. The bar is held in place by 1) Two cups which are screwed into your door frame, and 2) by pressure of un-threading the rods of the chinning bar until their snug in the cups and pushing out against the door frame. Even with drywall anchors, the repeated stress of use will work the anchors loose over time. I don't think it would be safe in drywall.

**Q: Can I hang a pulley cable system from the punching bag hook? Can it support same weight if weight is all on it's center?**
A: Firstly, I should point out that the pull-up bar is not designed for this purpose.  It is designed for doing pull ups.
So while the bar will hold the weight and your idea seems OK, it's unknown how the pull up bar or the doormounts will actually handle the stress of repeated use of a punching bag attached to it.

**Q: I have 2 walls, 42" apart. For extra security I'm drilling holes in studs behind walls to insert each end. At 225lbs, hanging upside down safe?**
A: Yes, it should be safe.  The bar will easily fit a 42" space and hold 225lbs.  Of course, the bar is designed for pull-ups and not specifically for hanging upside down.  But as long as you have it secured very well to the walls (it sounds like you will) and you tighten the Allen Wrench locking screws, then it should be fine.  You do need to check it  BEFORE EVERY USE to ensure that it is tightly and securely in place.

I was looking for an unobtrusive pull-up bar that had to fit into a wide doorway. The Garren bar was good, but not great. Positive: Easy to install, fits well, relatively sturdy when centered. Areas of improvement: The foam on the bar is OK but I don't like the ridges, would prefer a flat bar. Also the adjustment screws stick out a little too much so it's not comfortable to hold there.
