Works great, for 10 months anyways

EDIT: After having this and it working flawlessly for 10 months, it just died the other day. I don't know why but it was just dead, could it have been some freak thing, maybe, but seems tough to think it's a manufacturing defect after 10 months. Either way, will find something with more inputs next time now that I have added an XBox One and a PS3.--- Original Review ---I got this because my TV didn't have enough HDMI inputs for my HTPC, Xbox, WiiU, and Blu-Ray player, with only two inputs it was a pain constantly changing cables. Connected to one of the HDMI inputs on my TV, then hooked up the XBox, WiiU, and Blu-Ray player and it works exactly as described. It automatically switches to the last one turned on or can be manually switched, the only weird thing is with the WiiU, if you turn it off and switch a different device on, the input switches as expected but after about 30 seconds it switches back to the Wii U, but I think this is something in the WiiU's shutdown process that is sending a video signal as it shuts down and it confuses the switch and not a fault of the switch itself.I only gave it 4 stars because of the size, it is TINY, barely the size of a silver dollar coin... it isn't a problem it's just not what I expected but it does allow for the device to just sit in the back of the entertainment center as you really don't need to touch it 99% of the time. The ends of the cables are larger than the device itself, making it a little awkward with 4 cables connected. All in all I think it was a good purchase, but if it fails and I buy another one, I will try to get one that has all the connectors on the back of the device so it can sit in entertainment center better.

    Revised Review

*by T***E on Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2013*

I just deleted my original 12/22/2013 five-star review, and am replacing it with this one. Since my original review, I discovered that this product is not 100% compatible with my new Apple TV. My intended application was to select between two inputs (a DTV set-top-box and the Apple TV), and output the video to an old HDTV with only one DVI input via an HDMI/DVI converter cable (audio is output separately to my home theater system). The switch works great for passing both HD and non-HD content from my DTV set-top-box to the old HDTV. And it will pass YouTube content and some other content via my Apple TV to my old HDTV. However, the switch will not pass HD content from my Apple TV to the old HDTV (nor will it pass a standard definition movie rented from the iTunes store to my old HDTV) -- instead, I get the following error message:"This content requires HDCP for playback. Either your HDMI cable isn't properly connected, or your HDMI connection doesn't support HDCP. Please reconnect your HDMI cable from your Apple TV to your HDTV and try again". (I rechecked my connections and they are good).I blamed my old HDTV for this problem (based on some internet research) in my original review. But yesterday, I decided to bypass the switch and connect the HDMI/DVI converter cable directly from the old HDTV to the Apple TV. Much to my surprise, the "HDCP error message" went away and all content from Apple TV now displays great on the old TV.Also, as another reviewer commented, Apple TV does not completely power down in sleep mode (nor does my DTV set-top-box). Therefore, the auto-switching feature of this switch did not function -- I had to manually switch input sources using the button on the switch. So, for my application, this switch did not meet my expectations.

OK, but don't count on the "Auto" switch to be 100%

My 80yr old in-laws can barely figure out how to put a DVD into a player, let alone figure out how to switch inputs on their TV back and forth to choose the right signal. I thought this little box would be the answer I was looking for - the idea being that I could put the TV input into one side, the DVD player into the other side, and when the DVD turned on, it would auto-switch to the DVD player, and then when the DVD turned off, it would switch automatically back to TV. Great plan. Bad reality. This box is not reliable enough as an auto-switcher, and had trouble going back from the DVD to the original TV signal, unless I physically removed the DVD HDMI cable, or touched the input switch on the box manually. So why not 1 star instead of 3? I suspect the problem was not just with the box, it seems to switch well to the DVD, I think it is the Comcast HDMI signal - which simply does not seem like an auto "input change" since it is always on. So I gave the benefit of the doubt to the box.Sigh. Someday someone will develop something that technophobic old folks can use.
