So that means that you are getting a very well made hammer forged tool, that is consistent with the manufacturers specs. in annealing, metalergic steel make up, and quality control. A giant hammer forge is used to get the shape and pound out impurities...then off to finishing. The process involves monsterous mschines and alot of skill by the operator to get the desired product. You can watch them being made on utube. Council Tool is like the KaBar knives of axe makers. the only difference between their premium version ($149.00 + -) and this one is a polished head, and the weight....so, you're getting a great deal of axe for the money....there standard version is the same as this one.
