He just wants to stay out of trouble. This quiet life is shaken up when Faith Walters moves in next door. That would be Faith Walters, the sheriff's younger sister.I enjoy this as much as the 1st book, which is about North's brother, Knox. I enjoyed how the romance between North and Faith grew organically in the story. It didn't feel forced as in book 2. Faith is a nice woman, someone North feels he doesn't deserve. Sophie Jordan did not disappoint.I won't recount the story here; others do that. I'll talk about how I feel about North and Faith. I live in Texas, so I could identify with these characters maybe more than others. Faith was exactly a good Texas girl, and her father and brother were good Texas men. Lawmen besides. I liked the mix of her being a good girl and having the independence and stubbornness that the men in her family have. It made her a complex, likable heroine, and I liked that she didn't do a lot of stupid stuff just to prove her independence.North...well, I've been a little in love with him since All Chained Up. He's had it rougher than his brother Knox, spent more time in prison, saw and lived stuff that almost destroyed him. His feelings of worthlessness were totally believable, especially when he compares the more charmed life he led before everything happened that landed him in prison for so long. He lives up to his own low expectations and fights to keep himself there--because he's sure that's all he deserves. He fights his attraction to Faith--and hers for him--because trust comes hard for him. And why wouldn't it?I love that North was put in a position that was reminiscent of his past. It was basically save Faith or save himself. She was quick to defend him, it changed the dynamic of their relationship, and I loved every second of it.
