The smartpath stuff is very modular, and clever, in that you can expand into many rooms, not just one other room, running wire between all the rooms to "network" all the rooms together at distances that are fairly astonishing - up to 5000 feet. No, it's not the quick and easy wireless solution for everyone, but if you want a ROCK SOLID system that can expand to a number of rooms, and not just one other room, it's the best one I've dealt with.I can't tell what's going on as far as if the smartpath product line being phased out, or what, because it doesn't seem to be as widely available as it was in 2012, but it is still what I'm sticking with. They don't list all the individual components on the speakercraft website like they used to, but they do still list two different smartpath kits. I wish they still listed the individual components, but if you know what you're looking for you can buy them still.Two things like about the AT-1.0 that aren't really obvious until you use it:1) If you have more than one, only one plugs into the wall, the other units get their power from the one that is plugged in. This is really nice for me because I have locations where I don't have available outlets, and not needing a power adapted at every location reduces clutter.2) The jack labeled "STATUS IN 5-24V DC" is where you can plug in a second power supply from your receiver's "switched" receptacle - when your receiver is on, the "switched" receptacle provides power, and then the AT-1.0 sees that power, and in turn powers the ST OUT wire, which illuminates an LED on the IR receiver (I use the smartpath IRC-3.0 ir receiver).
