Review: 10/10 skimmer. Very powerful yet quiet. - This skimmer is a beast! I’m using it in an IM Nuvo Fusion Pro 40 gallon. It fits perfectly in the chamber between the return and the overflow, albeit minus the hanging bracket which is not needed because the chamber is the perfect depth. This is an upgrade from the Fiji Cube Nano Skimmer which constantly overflowed when water levels changed, even when I activated feed mode. The IOAIO sits much higher with the top of the vortex chamber well above the normal water level. I love that it has both an air intake adjustment as well as vortex chamber water level adjustment. This made fine tuning it a breeze. In addition is has a wave mode, constant mode, and feed mode plus 10 levels of speed. I’m running it on speed 5 constant with the vortex chamber just slightly open and air intake fully open. I get an amazing bubble column and I can watch the denser bubbles push towards the top until they overflow into the cup. Within a few hours of installing I had a nice brown sludge in the collection cup. I haven’t had to mess with the setting much at all. It’s extremely quiet compared to my old skimmer. The collection cup is so big I’m not even sure I need to use the drain valve but I love that it has one as my old skimmer did not and constantly overflowed. Putting it together was incredibly simple. It seems very sturdy and holds together well. Removing the collection cup to empty it is very easy. This is a 10 out of 10 skimmer. I wish they made a smaller version for nano tanks.
Review: Great little skimmer - I waited a week to see how the skimmer performed to write a review. The thing works great and I have no complaints. The collection cup is on the smaller size but with the drain line you can easily leave it open to drain into another disposal container. Out of the box it was easy to assemble, but I have a few years experience in saltwater setups. The unit felt sturdy, the collection cup twist locks on top and has a drain line which is important if your running a large bio load. I'm using it on a 40 breeder with a 20 long sump. The skimmer won't hang on the side and as per the description it's for a rimless tank or sump. But I simply 3D printed a mount for it. I'm impressed with the little skimmer, cost comparison to other name brand skimmers, it does the same job at a fraction of the cost. The DC control means you can use it to help dial in the skimmer which makes tuning so much easier. I had it skimming well in just a few days, minimal break in time. I would recommend anyone needing a skimmer to go with this over the more expensive units. I'll update this review if anything else pops up down the road.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 100% better than OEM IM
*by B***. on September 28, 2025*

IM50 Lagoon. Very Quiet! Fits perfect on left side compartment 2 , where original IM medium skimmer fits. Two days in nice dark skimming. The pump is the most impressive 3 times the size of OEM IM. I feel this is doing such a better job! The only issue is the air line has to be disconnected to clean and empty the collection up well. Only reason for the four stars. Otherwise I would buy all day long. Great skimmer.
