It is indexed, and has the words of Christ in red. The print is large and very readable. This bible is loaded with extra features that are helpful to studying God's word. It has Doctrinal footnotes, personality profiles and lots of pictures of archaeological sites. Reading the bible and understanding the content is not easy. Each page has plenty of charts and diagrams to enrich your bible reading experience. It has over 57 full color maps, hundreds of full color photos, center column references and notes to help with difficult words and frases. The index in the back of the bible has a full dictionary of hard the understand words and there is plenty more. Trying to navigate the Bible can be difficult. With all the notes and explanations you will have no trouble understanding the word of God. This is a great Bible for people new the word as well as the more experienced readers. Review: I have 50 Bibles, and this is one of my top 3 all-time favorites - "This Bible is beautiful. The cover is so stunning that I display it on a bench at the foot of my bed. The pages are made of high-quality paper. While all Bibles have thin pages, some have much thinner pages with significant bleed-through. This Bible's heavier-weight pages minimize this effect. The book opens and lays flat, and the sewn binding seems very durable. I haven't highlighted anything in this book, and I don't intend to. It's simply too beautiful, and I have other Bibles for note-taking. However, if I find I want to make a note, I will use adhesive tabs or clear vellum paper notes to avoid marring the pages. The doctrinal footnotes are amazing and are probably one of my favorite features. I often reference them as a substitute commentary, even when reading or studying other Bible versions. I also enjoy the Personality Profiles, which are a delight to read, informative, and helpful. The maps are beautiful and vivid. Many appear on heavy, high-gloss pages at the back of the book, but even the illustrations and photos (like those in the "Archeological Sites" notes) on the regular pages are still full-color and high-quality. The larger text is easy to read, and the Bible lays flat when opened, making it perfect for desk study. It is a large and not lightweight Bible, but it wasn't meant to be a travel Bible. It includes a concordance, study notes, book introductions, and book outlines, which are great for scanning and locating specific information within a book's context. Additionally, there are two ribbons, which are a thoughtful feature for those who do a lot of Bible study and are constantly flipping back and forth between pages. I often find myself wishing for a second ribbon in books that only have one. This leads me to another great feature: the single column in the center of the two-column layout, which contains scripture references. This book honestly has so much to offer. And to think, I had tried to cancel my order in a moment of buyer's remorse, and believing I have too many Bibles already. Thankfully, I tarried too long, and my cancellation was denied. I am delighted it turned out that way because I ended up with one of the most beautiful and cherished Bibles in my vast collection. This would make a great gift, or a stunning coffee table book. Perfect to dive into the KJV!!! *by C***M on October 15, 2025* This Nelson KJV Study Bible is without a doubt the most gorgeous Bible, inside and out, that I have ever encountered! The cover is absolutely beautiful in a two tone dark/light mahogany "leather soft" material (which I'll take over a mediocre leather bound) with a stunning gold embossed title on the front. Same on the side. Stitching is very high quality around the front and back at all edges. The binding is sewn, not glued. On the inside, the full color maps, tables, illustrations and photos are amazing. The print (this is large text version) is very highly readable for both Biblical text and notes alike - this iteration of comfort print is very attractive and easy on older eyes. Inclusion of thumb-indexing and red lettering - both of which are not a true deal breaker for me either way - are both very nice. I started off with the Quest Study Bible (NIV) some years ago, which I still think is great for new/younger Christians, but not necessarily for in-depth study. I have recently moved to the ESV Study Bible, which I think is outstanding in terms of content. The ESV articles and study notes are top notch in my opinion (specific theological opinions aside). However, I got caught up into the trap of ordering several more expensive, "upgraded" versions of this volume, only to end up returning several copies (Amazon and also Christianbook.com) due to defects and Crossway's apparent poor quality control. I ended up getting a good copy of the ESV SB with no defects (the inexpensive "TruTone Portfolio Edition") so I stuck with that. It's a great Bible and I love reading and studying it. However, after much research into the many different English translations, I have decided to explore the classic KJV with this one. This KJV SB seems to have good study notes/aids/articles, but I'll need to get into it further before I can legitimately comment on that vs the ESV. For what it's worth, I'll amend my review if I come across any glaring shortcomings or discrepancies. Again, this Nelson KJV Study Bible is absolutely stunning in it's beauty, quality and readability. I can't believe that they are offering this Bible for this price!
