Most of my packs are the older XRP series, but I have a few of the new compact Li-Ion packs and this will charge both types without issues. I was very satisfied with the value of this purchase and it has been performing well for a couple months so far. If it goes like the rest of my dewalt gear it'll last a long time. I haven't been able to kill a dewalt charger or tool yet, and I picked up my first set of 5 (18v) dewalt tools back in 2001. I've had a few packs that finally gave up after a number of years, but their lifespan was very reasonable. The automatic battery maintenance function is a cool feature I'm pretty sure my basic charger didn't have. I haven't noticed anything difference in my battery performance since switching to this charger, but that is probably a good thing! This thing charges really fast. It charges batteries. It is nice being able to charge two at a time. It is also nice that it charges all dewalt voltages as well as ni-cad, ni-mh, and lithium ion. I can say it charges ni-cad and ni-mh, and probably pretty close to that one hour mark like it states. I have not made the jump to lithium ion tools so I do not know if or how well it charges them. It comes with a battery which is nice since you can never have too many of them, especially since they eventually wear out. It usually just sits on my shelf but has occasionally been put into my toolbox to take to a job site, which has caused no problems for it.
