The sensitivity level resets to 4 every time the collar is turned off. You can set it 3 levels higher or 3 levels lower. If you turn the collar and press + until the beeping stops, then you are on level 7. The higher the level, the better the collar detects barking. As for the other commenter, they are actually using level 5 every time they turn the collar on and set the level up by one. My belief is --- You get what you pay for. I tried a different shock collar for barking, but it was just too much for my baby chihuahua's. I bought one of the barklo collars, and for me this item is working perfectly. However, my babies were introduced to a real shock collar that hurt, after the beep; so now the beep is all they need to cut the barking down to one bark. In fact, they haven't even gone into the vibrate mode to scare them from barking -- just beeps. We had incessant barking all the time and only one collar seems to work for the whole household, LOL. We have added "NO BARK" at every beep and we have silence. My success is most likely due to the fact, we tried a shock collar first. However, with a lot of training (I have 9 chihuahua's so if one barks they all bark) this collar would work best for timid dogs or those that are frightened easily. For those doggies where a beep would mean nothing and then followed by a little vibration, then you should pick a different collar with a different reprimand for incessant barking. Kindly remember, that ANY collar you might use, is not a substitute for "training". The 2 girls are the bigger barkers in the house. We are having a baby in January and are looking for a humane way to curb the barking these guys can put out at all hours of the night.Packaging was not very impressive for the $30/unit price and the quality felt a little “meh” cheap plastic as well. My expectations were low. We just received them, put them on, centered them on the necks and it’s been about 20 minutes.The biggest issue we’ve seen is that the collars do not stay centered on the front of the neck - they move off to the side and the collars are already pretty tight. The instructions specifically say that the device needs to be on the front of the neck. It would be great if they had silicone backing on the device to help prevent slippage. This is the cause of the four stars instead of five.That being said, we’ve already noticed an improvement. Instead of long repetitive high pitched barks. They are low grumbles that are fewer and far between.From rooms away we can hear a low growl and the beep from the device showing that it’s working. If this lasts, we’re both happy with the purchase. If they end up not functioning we’ll due to the slipping or if they end up chewing them off of each other - I am going to cry - and then update my review for you guys.Happy so far! ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars Works when in place, but won't stay in place *by K***T on Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2018* When the collar is in the correct position, it works wonderfully. However, the collar will not stay in correct position at the recommended tightness on either of my small dogs (7lb and 11lb). Unless I was willing to tighten it so tight you can't get a finger inside the collar or it chokes the dog (which I am not going to do), it will not stay put. This causes the collar to not work frequently, as it has moved to the side of the neck. We have been trying for weeks to find the balance between tightness of the collar for function vs, the dog's comfort and safety, but have had no success.It has also registered when another dog barks very close beside mine on several occasions, even with the sensitivity turned down from default.
