This device is definitely better to use over the hand pump. It has a stronger suction so it removes the air out of the vacuum bag quickly. It is also pretty compact so you are able to put this in your bag and take it on the go with you. I can actually just keep this in my luggage and reseal my bag. It also is smaller than my hand pump. It does have a good length power cable. The opening does not exactly fit all vacuum bags so you do have to press down in order to create a seal. It does get a bit warm when you are using it. I am unsure if it will shut off on its own if it get a bit too hot. There are no settings and it is just a simple flip of the switch. Overall this device is a good investment for using with sealing your vacuum bags. It is compared so you can take it on the go with you if needed. It is a space saver when traveling.
