The stuff that's pealing is silicone they said the manufacturer did that to protect the titanium metal. I have no idea why they would do that because titanium does not rust I suspect it was for cosmetic reasons as the metal had some lines near the top of the wok where it curves over you can see after removing the silicone paint. It was hell getting all the silicone off and underneath looks like titanium and food cooks really well in it. So beware if you really want a titanium pan this is probably the only country in the world that makes it and you will need to scrub like hell to get that silicone off.
