They are thick enough for good scrubbing:) **Q: Why does the product description say, "note: 1. make sure the brush is rotating clockwise when in use." what difference does it make???** A: The metal shaft is screwed clockwise in the attachment, so when the brush is rotating clockwise, the metal shaft will stay firmly on the attachment. If the brush is rotating anti clockwise when in use, the metal shaft may become a bit loose from the attachment, and you probably need to screw it back in.
