We required the fabric to be about equally stretchy in all directions, and to be able to go back to its original shape with minimal warping. We also didn't want to deal with sewing hems, as this would be a hassle. Fortunately, this material fit the bill. (Cut edges do not fray with this type of knit.)The fabric was stretched over a circular frame, and we put some heavy metal balls on the fabric to simulate gravity warping space-time. Then we rolled some marbles on the fabric so kids could see them orbit around the heavier balls. It worked quite well.After two months' worth of weekly demo sessions, with kids who sometimes throw the balls rather violently down on the fabric, the material has been holding up nicely, as it is good, moderately thick material with nice properties that allows it to retain its elasticity despite being stretched and relaxed repeatedly. It turned out to be not quite as thick as I'd like, but I think I can make it work even though I'd like something with more body to it.
