## Description

Product Description The critically acclaimed, Emmy® - nominated series about the inner workings of a New York City firehouse and the emotional battles of its members returns for a second season. Created and written by Denis Leary and Emmy® award winner Peter Tolan (“The Larry Sanders Show,” “Murphy Brown”), RESCUE ME’s second season finds Timmy Gavin (Denis Leary) away from his former crew, Truck Company 62, and wor desertcart.com Rescue Me is a wake up call for every man who (as a kid) dreamed about becoming a fireman and every woman who fantasized about being with one. As flawed and complicated as they are selfless and heroic, the fire fighters in this FX series are a compelling lot. They deal with infidelity, drug addiction, and sexual abuse on a daily basis and make it seem like old hat. But the characters are so well thought out that they almost always make viewers care about what's developing in their lives. This second season surpasses the debut year in terms of story lines and pacing. Series creator Denis Leary (Ice Age, No Cure for Cancer) reprises his role of Tommy Gavin. Separated from his wife and children and also battling a drinking addiction, Tommy is now working as the new guy in a Staten Island firehouse. He isn't a hero so much as he's his own best victim. Luckily, he's still got some loyal friends who're quick to nip his pity-parties short: "You feeling a little angry? You feeling a little hurt? You feeling betrayed? Well, congratulations, you're feeling, and you're feeling because you're sober." With his hangdog features and fast-paced speech pattern, Leary is surprisingly believable in the role. Returning character Chief Reilly (Jack McGee) faces some struggles of his own, as he watches his wife's spiral downward thanks to Alzheimer's. And it's not much easier for Franco (Daniel Sunjata), who is trying to figure out the best ways to care for his daughter while working an unpredictable schedule. While the drama on this show can sometimes be fiery and intense, the series provides enough biting humor to lend it an air of humanity and, at times, even a little warmth. It doesn't leave viewers wanting to be fire fighters, but rather empathizing with them. --Jae-Ha Kim

Review: BEST SHOW EVER!!! - First caught this series on FX late one Saturday night. I was so riveted that I had to research the show online, just to see if it was still on TV. Found out they were coming into their 3rd season on FX starting May 30, 2006. I figured I had a lot of catching up to do so I went online and bought both seasons 1&2. Within 1 week I had both seasons watched. The show is centered around Tommy (Leary) but all characters posses "must see" personalities that make each and every scene better than the next. Tommy & Sheila (and Franco) sex scenes are just a hair shy of R movies and the fire scenes extremely realistic. It's now approx. 2 weeks until the season opener and I'm already jonesing. All characters possess some A-hole qualities (Tommy being the most) but all also hold very endearing qualities. The dialog is extremely witty and storylines fresh. The language is reminiscent of an HBO or Showtime special yet doesn't cross the line. Not recommended for kids (obviously) but for anyone older I highly recommend. This is my first post to desertcart and I've been buying for years. I have never felt compelled to make a post until now. I want everyone to know what a great show this is. Gotta keep it on FX for years to come.
Review: TV'S FINEST - in an earlier review, it was written that this is the best drama on tv since "nypd blue".don't mean to be critical, but the only time "nypd blue" was an awesome drama was it's first two years. after david caruso jumped ship, and was replaced by the likes of jimmy smits, ricky schroeder and mark-paul gosselaar, all mediocre actors to say the least, it never lived up to it's potential. i felt sorry for dennis frantz, for after caruso left, he had to do all the heavy lifting on that show. never has one good actor been surrounded by so many bad actors. anyways this isn't the case with "rescue me"; all the actors in this series carry his/her weight. i also agree with most of the reviewers who write that this is the best show on tv today. i only hope that this deserving series gets,at least, a five year run. the highest praise i can give "rescue me" is that it's in the same league as "six feet under", which, imo, was the finest tv series ever. kudos to f/x for having the guts to present controversial and excellent shows, such as "over there" (sadly not renewed),"thief"(sadly not renewed), and of course "the shield" (what "nypd blue" could have been.)
