A bit sluggish at times (quick flash shots and extreme zoom shots) but this was a terrific camera for our trip to Europe. We bought it specifically for this trip. I took over 3000 pictures with it (on one card I might add) and couldn't be happier. I simply didn't want to take/carry my larger (and much more expensive) Nikon on this trip. This camera ended up almost perfect. One minor negative for me, I guess I'll mention. It was fairly easy to hit the video record button accidentally. I really feel it could be a bit of an issue if you are not at least somewhat aware of how you handle it when it's on. Of course, it could have been simply my big hands but it seemed pretty easy to be recording accidentally for me. One BIG plus is the 40X optical zoom. I loved it and could really "reach out" to distant objects without loss of resolution. AND, what's not to like about 16MP resolution! I will mention also that the camera did surprisingly well in low light conditions as well.I'd definitely recommend this camera and am not sure I won't be carrying this one more than my other beloved NIKON.

I'm loving this camera! If you're looking for solid quality at an affordable price (comparatively -- as you probably already know, cameras can be spendy items!). I bought this camera specifically for documenting Special Olympics events. I had a lengthy conversation with a professional who indicated to me that I should settle for nothing less than 1/4000 and 4 FPS. There are few cameras which meet those specs in the price range I hoped for. This camera is 1/4000 and 7.5 FPS. Decided to take a chance on it and bought it. Happy I took the chance! Low lighting can be a challenge, but varying the scene settings and adjusting ISO and/or White Balance helps. And with a x40 Zoom, this camera gave me great shots from the start.Pros -- User-friendly, solidly built, x40 zoom (nice!), comfortable grip (size & texture), 7.5 FPS (works well in fairly low lighting)Cons -- Low lighting can be challenging at times (as with many lower cost cameras)Bottom Line -- If you're looking for fairly high quality at a fairly low cost............. This is it!Photos -- I took all of these photos at the zoo to determine range and clarity for photos in different lighting. The 2 wolves are in bright lighting (evident), the rest are in overcast lighting and from quite a distance. I was pleased! FYI -- The photo of the wolf on log was shot from behind smudged glass. The lack of clarity around the edges (esp upper left corner) are from smudges on glass -- not camera. I'm pleased with this camera!

I bought this camera for the 40x optical zoom. I own a smaller Nikon Coolpix but wanted the zoom for a safari in the spring. I felt that another Nikon would be easier to adjust to so I chose the Coolpix B500. I recently had an opportunity to test it out on a Panama Canal cruise over the holidays. This camera is everything I expected and more. The controls were familiar and easy to use. The 40x optical zoom is amazing. I have perfectly clear shots from distances that others weren't even able to focus on. Although larger than my other Nikon I don't find this camera difficult to carry and use. The features are too many to discuss here, but one example is that you can tell the camera if it is a handheld or tripod shot and the camera will adjust accordingly. I can't wait to put it to the test in Tanzania.

Absolutely LOVE this camera - it is exactly what I wanted! We just moved to the mountains of Montana and capturing the wildlife from far away using the 40x zoom is fantastic! I will definitely have to buy some back up batteries so some can be charging while the other set is in use because I can't stand missing one minute of the beauty out here!

The camera is in perfect condition and everything else is great. I only problem I have is that the cable for the battery charger is too big to actually fit into the battery charger.
