I'm intolerant of caffeine so I add chicory to decaffeinated coffee to further reduce the caffeine content and enhance the flavor. I just tried my usual weak brew; 1tsp per 5oz water. It is pretty weak; I knew it would be but for the sake of this comparison I thought it would be a place to start. I rebrewed the 4 cup pot with 4 rounded tsp. of Anthony's chicory and the original coffee. It turned out to be as I like my drink; but weak by most standards. I assume this Chicory is comparable to medium roast coffee. Hope this helps **Q: Will i be able to use in an automatic coffee brewer, such as mr. coffee? would the granules need to be ground to do this?** A: The granules are ready to brew. I mix it with my ground coffee and brew the mixture as I would coffee. And it does! I don't follow the directions given in the package; instead, I just use about the same amount of coffee as usual, and then add maybe a teaspoon or two of this (per 8 ounce cup of coffee), and it gives it an awesome flavor. You can actually just brew this instead of coffee, but I didn't like the flavor this way. I also tried a one to one ratio, and that might work for some, but not for me. I've never tried other brands, but Anthony's has a nice, fresh smell each time I open the bag. All I can say is, try it. Taste is subjective, so some may not like it, others will love it.
