If you're a current nut, then I suppose you may go for the UT210E which has 3 amperage ranges for maximum accuracy, and tops out at 100A, but can't measure temperature or frequency. But this UT210D is, in my opinion, the best option of all the models. You get AC/DC current up to 200A and it will measure temperature and frequency, which the UT210E does not. Plus, the AC and DC current modes are separate selections, so just zoom on the knob to what you want instead of having to hit the select button like you do on the E model. I took this thing for a spin and hit the various functions and it does it all just fine: 100uF capacitor, 5.00V DC, 5.00V AC at 60Hz (it didn't register at 9.9kHz, OK since it's not a pure sine wave), frequency at 60Hz and 9.9kHz, 100/1K/10K/100K ohms, ran from 0.01A up to 42A DC, utility power at 122V AC and a computer at about 1A, checked some LEDs and transistors, (it will light some LEDs very dimly). Display is OK, as is the backlight. Measured room temperature at 70F displayed 68F. NCV with the light is great, worked on cords, outlets and wall switches. Did some controlled DC current measurements. A unit from another listing had major issues with the 20A-200A range and I had to return it. This unit works just fine. Be aware that it's not absolutely perfect, so 42A might register 41.6A or so. This doesn't bother me at all. Anyway, accuracy isn't going to be perfect to the least significant digit every time, but wow, this thing is impressive for what it does and at this price point!!! Smiles all around here.... Some negatives? The probes are a bit thick and stiff, which is not necessary as you're not measuring current through them. I also wish they were straight instead of 90 degrees. These could be swapped out, no problem. I purchased the Amprobe AMP-25 before this but soon reality dawned on me. It ONLY does current, up to 300A and the accuracy wasn't really that spectacular anyway. It is a tiny bit smaller than the UT210D and the quality is perhaps slightly higher (has LPF Inrush), but honestly I felt like I got ripped off by Amprobe. I have a full-featured clamp meter setup that goes up to 600A and a dedicated AC/DC clamp meter that hits 1,000A @ 1,000V. So the UT210D fits in there nicely. The Amprobe also uses two tiny button-cell batteries, not so great for constant use, while the UT210E uses two AAA. Anyway, total package, this is amazing. It all fits perfectly in the included carrying case. It seems to be working very good for tuning in the welder to the amperage I’m wanting for the metal thickness I’m welding on. I like the fact you can also use it to check a plug to make sure the power is off before you start messing with it, and it has a thermocouple you can check the temperature on different things like the air blowing out of a ac unit, or hot surfaces up to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. I have been wanting a dc inductive pickup meter for a long time. This one was affordable and had a good controll layout. Functions are easy to set, and easy to read. It seems to be very accurate, I have hooked it up to my precision desktop power supply, and the readings are right on. I have also compared it to 4 other meters and all were within .1 to .2 volts, and amp/milliamp readings were just as close. The probes supplied are good quality, they add protective collars on the probes to only allow a short tip to protrude.
