Sound quality is as you would expect from Sony, top notch, extremely clear and precise sound. One niggle is that the power leads on the sound bar and woofer are a little short. Also if you get an echo sound when connected to your tv, just disable your tvs internal speaker. Should also note that the subwoofer volume can be controlled by the remote, which is a nice touch. Bluetooth music steaming also works great from your smartphone as is easily paired with nfc.

**Q: I do not have an optical connection on my sony tv. is there any other way to connect this soundbar?**
A: Hi, The sound bar does have an optical input but it also has a standard analogue jack input. You should be able to connect the phono outputs of your tv to the jack input with a phono to jack cable. If you have a headphone output on your tv you could even connect that to the sound bar with a jack to jack cable. The bar has a an input selector for optical or analogue.

**Q: If you have a sony tv and a sony soundbar connected via the optical cable, will the tv's remote control the soundbar?**
A: sadly no, the remote for the soundbar does turn the tv off though

**Q: Does this need to be plugged in to get power?**
A: Yes, both the sound-bar and the sub need to be plugged in to the mains.

**Q: How close to the tv can I place the soundbar**
A: As close as you like. Mine is mounted on the wall above the tv about 2" away. The subwoofer is on the floor about 3ft away. you don't notice that the subwoofer is to the left in a corner. The corner gives the subwoofer extra resonance as does the wooden floor and does not create a directional sound as to where the base is generated.

Ok so it's not the loudest system in the world but for the price it's great. Quality of the sound is good with good range and clear voices. On music the bass is excellent with the option of turning the subwoofer up or down separate to the main bar. No lag on sound compared to screen from what I have seen. Over all you get what you pay for and this looks good. Sounds good and most of all does the job brilliantly.

I'm not a techie at all, but the soundbar and sub woofer sound really good to me in a normal sized living room. My tv doesn't have an optical connection so (as advised by Sony) mine is connected via the headphone socket on the tv. It was so easy to set up - just plug in and go. The sound is good, with plenty of volume to spare. I use it for listening to the tv and also for listening to music through Spotify from my tablet using the bluetooth capability. I would agree with other reviewers, though, that some kind of volume indicator would be a bonus. I have experienced no sound lag at all.
