It's not light weight either...so be prepared! Also it keeps heat very well and fairly long enough. As fas as cleaning it's easy as long as you pat it dry, place it over the hob to finish drying and as soon as it's totally dry, straight away cover the WHOLE skillet with a light coat of vegetable oil (IK there's other good ones to use)...WARNING the skillet is going to be hot...let it cool down and store. Direct contact is not necessary with induction. The electromagnetic coils are about a centimeter beneath the bottom of the pan, hidden beneath several millimeters of glass. A couple more mm should make no difference. Aluminium pans with encapsulated ferromagnetic cores in their bottoms have the same additional distance between the coils and the 'reciever' - even if this is not immediately obvious because the gap is filled with aluminium. **Q: Has anyone used inside the oven? does it fit a standard sized uk oven? i would like to use for baking bread/baguettes possibly even pizza** A: I have only ever used the Lodge cast iron griddle on top of my gas stove & my charcoal BBQ, it will fit in my home oven with plenty of spare room, however I have never used it to bake bread on but I do use a Lodge Dutch Oven and that does produce beautiful loaves of bread. **Q: Has anyone used this on an induction hob? i've just bought a rangemaster induction hob and i'm worried about it scratching the glass?** A: I bought this griddle specifically for an induction hob and it works great on a large zone. No scratches but I always take one precaution! I cut-out a rectangle from a silicone mat and always place that on the induction glass first. Then place the griddle on top. The mat is wafer thin so the griddle is near the magnetic coils, it avoids potential scratches and, as a bonus, the griddle does not slip around. Genius if I say so myself ;-) **Q: What is the height of the raised edges measure from the cooking surface from both grill and griddle side?** A: The raised edge measurement of the flat side of the griddle is 5.32cm & the griddle side is 6.11.
