Many of the products i looked at were designed to reduce impact noise, however this item was intended to moderate airborne noise, something it does extremely effectively. First impressions were fery good- lordy this material is dense, the rolls are unexpectedly heavy. Even as i was laying it i could hear the reduction in internal reflections, the noise i was making was very effectively damped. Laying it couldn't have been easier, i used a box cutter but any sharp knife would do. The material will take a blade at a very shallow angle, perfect for trimming small amounts to get a perfect fit. On completion i was very happy with the result that exceeded my expectations. There is now very little noise transmitted through the floor to the room below...the difference is night and day. In addition i found the vendors extremely helpful- my first consignment went missing, the chaps very kindly sent me a replacement free of charge. There are some purpose made rubbers for laying onto floors and I would suggest looking at some 'sound proofing' sites such as http://www.soundstop.co.uk/ before making any decisions as they have an excellent section on flooring and appropriate materials. **Q: I need to deaden the sound escaping through a small single glazed exterior window (it never needs to open or transmit light) would this work?** A: I'm not sure! I wouldn't think it would make much difference. This material works best when used in conjunction with soundbloc plaster board. I would have thought that secondary double glazing would be your best bet. **Q: Does this product have a fire rating?** A: It conforms to fmvss 302. For buildings it needs to be sandwiched between plasterboard when used on the walls and ceiling. Or covered with underlay when used on the floor. The covering materials (plasterboard and underlay) act as the fire barrier. **Q: Hi could this be glued to either side of a door to act as a sound barrier? Or is it too heavy and likely to come off?** A: I screwed it and stappled it to a door once. You ruin the door, but it was worth it for 2 years of reduced noise.
