## Description

From the manufacturer Uniquely irregular shape The unique irregular shape of VitaLink Clay Pebbles results in a large pebble surface area which holds more nutrient. Great root aeration Offers strong structural integrity and good root aeration. Stable EC and pH These pebbles have a very stable EC and pH, meaning that they will not significantly affect the pH of your nutrient solution, or leak undesired minerals into it. Less dusty than the rest Even though our pebbles have been triple filtered to avoid smaller pebbles and dust, you still need to wash them to get the best possible results. Perfect for all types of growing methods VitaLink Clay Pebbles are ideal for flood and drain, multi–pot and drip-ring systems, as well as being used as support media for deep water culture. They can also be used to mix with other substrates to improve structure, or to add a drainage layer in the bottom of pots.

Review: Dusty and too small - Not very happy with the sizes of these clay pebbles. Majority of them are very small.. The video shows the largest size, I'd say I have half a handful that are sized as advertised. The rest are tiny and fall through pot holes so they are unusable. They are also very dusty, I've rinsed multiple times and left to soak but the water still turns murky and brown. Not what I want my plants growing in. Very disappointed.
Review: Not the LECA pebbles you have seen in videos - These clay pebbles arent round shaped and brown/red. Those are the pebbles I was after for my indoor plants. However, these are very different - they are very dark grey/black and have irregular shapes and sizes (with many small ones). I wanted to buy LECA pebbles and had a hard time finding the right product. I thought this was it. I acknowledge LECA is not in the packaging, but neither it is in those that do have the LECA pebbles I was after. Today, I am still not sure if they are the same thing (but different quality or aesthetic) or if they are in deed what it is often called LECA pebbles

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can these be used in the bottom of a planter for lime hating blueberrys for drainage please**
A: Yes these can be used in bottom of pots to help with drainage. It's exactly what i use them for.

**Q: what is the volume (m3) and saturated weight of 45L?**
A: Sorry Salt for answering your questions and sounding a bit prickly but it does say on the advertisement "45 litre bag" and as there is a 1,000 litres in a cubic metre I think that makes a 47 Lt bag .22 cubic metres. As for the "saturated weight" these are aerated clay pebbles and as such do not actually 'hold' water. The aerations simply provide a greater surface area for water to adhere to as a 'damp coating'.The weight really is the actual pebbles, which is 13 KGs in the bag. Yes I know I also sound pickybut the answers are all in the ad for the goods. Sorry for being a git! O'Keef

**Q: Has anyone used it for vegetable growing in troughs or raised beds? I have a container and I wanted to lay some pebbles at the bottom**
A: I have used and reused these pebbles in a number of ways.

Firstly I use them as the filler in a basket to hold the plant in a "Kratky" system. In this respect the pebbles were fine once the plant had laid down roots. This is used for both tomatoes and cucumbers and is very successful.

Additionally I used the pebbles in a trough containing Non-woven Breathable Permeable bags. In this respect all the nutrients and water is poured onto the pebbles and not the bags. I have used this for growing chilli peppers and tomatoes, with excellent results.

**Q: Do they dissolve while contact with water??**
A: Simple answer is no they do not. I put the pebbles in a bucket of water, prior to using them (to clean off the dust). I have left pebbles in water for weeks without any adverse affects.

### ⭐ Poor quality
*by C***R on 24 January 2023*

Very dirty does not matter how many times I rinsed the pebbles !! Horrible stuff !-used for hydroponics in a planter with with water gauge and false bottom problem was these pebbles suck up to much water and cause root rot !! Cost me over £100 in plants !!! Use traditional Lecca much better success !
