Review: Perfect Punches for a Pretty Price - A good value for money set of punches that will cut there way through leather, rubber and other similar materials up to a few mm thick. Their use benefits from a steady hand and some force with a suitable hammer to punch out perfect circles. The punches are nicely manufactured for their relatively low cost (approx. a fiver) and will happily work over and over again as long as a soft wood base is used beneath the item being punched. If the tips dull over time they can be very carefully sharpened using a cutting stone etc. The only thing to be aware of is the sizes are approximate (in my case 5mm is actually 4.66mm, and 6 mm is 5.7mm etc.) and the material being punched must be capable of stretching to allow the thickness of the tools shaft to pass through when punching a hole. The larger diameter punches have quite thick shafts and force the material to stretch quite a lot. There are other style punches out there that are thinner (and likely much more expensive) but leather belts and rubber sheet etc. generally stretch without issue. I'm pleased with these punches for the price.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Would this punch through laminated paper resources?**
A: I see no reason why these punches would not punch through laminated paper.  Not only have I used my set for leather punching but have also punched through aluminium foil of the thickness of foil baking trays.  Hope this helps.

**Q: Can you use them to make a whole in 0.5mm thickness silver sheet?**
A: Yes, use a hardwood block behind the silver sheet when punching out the hole .

**Q: Will these cut through carpet**
A: Probably, depending how thick the carpet is. They do cut through a leather belt.

**Q: is there a set that cuts larger holes ie. 30mm**
A: No  Idea, i would be looking at an electric drill & spade bit or hole cutter for that diameter

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good punch for the price but slightly dull out of the box.

If you're not punching holes every day and just pull out the tool once in a while, this punch set is spot on. It's affordable, tough, and after a bit of tweaking it does the job effortlessly. Out of the box I found it was struggling to cut through 1mm of rubber composite. This was easily fixed by sharpening the tool, to do this I used a dremel with a grinding bit and now it could cut through the material. I didn't mind this extra effort as the price for the full set is so low.
