Review: Required some careful consideration to determine exactly how I wanted to install these with my garage doors. There are no instructions or diagrams provided, so be prepared. The provided bracket could have worked, but I ended up locating them along the side of the doors for a cleaner looking installation. I screwed the sensor flat to the wall next to the door, and the magnet screwed to the side of the door. The sensor itself is extremely sensitive, which is great for this application. I noticed after test fitting the magnet, the residual magnetism I introduced onto the adjacent steel cable was enough to solidly trigger the switch even without the magnet. Pretty impressive. I've already got them wired up to a PLC which will email me when the doors are left open, so I'll know pretty quickly if these switches ever fail. So far so good.
Review: After noticing an increase in break-ins in our gated community, many of which were captured on Ring cameras, we decided to extend our Honeywell Home alarm system to include our courtyard gate for added security. These sensors were the perfect solution, and I’m thrilled with how well they’ve worked. The installation process was straightforward once we paired the sensors with the compatible wireless transmitter (we used this one: https://www.desertcart.com/dp/B002MA8GKW), and the system programming instructions provided by other reviewers were spot-on. The sensors integrate seamlessly into our alarm system, and once added, they function the same way as the other wireless window or door sensors in our home. However, I did encounter a minor issue during installation. Initially, we mounted the sensors directly to the iron gate, and this led to a problem where the sensors would randomly activate, causing false alarms. After some troubleshooting, we realized the issue was due to an interaction between the magnets in the sensor and the metal of the gate, which was triggering the alarm. The solution? We mounted the sensors with a small insulator (just a piece of plastic or rubber - see pictures) between the sensor and the gate, and since then, the system has worked flawlessly. For the past 4 months, we’ve had ZERO false alarms — just the peace of mind that comes with a secure gate. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking to enhance their home’s security, especially if you have access points like gates or fences that need monitoring. A few installation tips: ensure that your alarm system supports wireless sensors (most systems installed within the last 20 years should be compatible), and if you’re mounting these sensors to metal surfaces, remember to use an insulator between the sensor and the metal to avoid interference. This was a relatively easy, inexpensive way to expand our system, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Hopefully, this little tip helps others avoid the frustration of false alarms and the need for multiple trips from your installer.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How is this wired: to a transmitter? to the garage opener? Why 28V?**
A: It's a simple switch, more for someone knowledgeable about basic electronic components. You could hook it up to a power supply and a light, to turn on a light when it the magnet is nearby. Or you could hook it up to a smart house hub designed to take in simple signals.

It's not just 28V, it's 0V-28V (simple answer, more volts = more heat = higher chance of fire. bigger wires reduces heat/volt, but increases cost of device, so they limit it to a chosen level, in this case 28V)

**Q: Is this a normally open or closed switch? One reviewer said they received a normally open switch... but you state in the specs that its NC.**
A: Closed when magnet engaged
