There are a number of things I like about these which make them pretty much spot on for me...... in no particular order; They are good to grip... you hold onto the whole body of the thing and twist the grooved and grippy rubber end which provides a positive action; The shaft between the rubber handle and the actual grinder feels very solid - how it should be; the mechanism seems well engineered and crushes without any judder; the resistance between the handle and the body is none existent so all force used turning the unit is translated to the milling action; there is no interruption of flow of salt/pepper to the grinder; the outlet is at the top of the mill so there's no mess; the quality is robust and well finished; refilling is a joy - there's a huge unscrewable opening at the bottom of the unit. The granulation size is simply adjustable and from fine (it is very fine) through to coarse (very coarse) in 5 easy stages - I thought that this was a little gimmicky but it isn't - you can add a lot of salt/pepper while cooking and seasoning - and a fine powder at the table. They work so well and are so well made that I'm actually getting to quite like the design - they look a lot better in the "flesh" than they do in pictures.... It is made in China. (at least - mine..) **Q: What is the difference between the salt grinder and the pepper grinder?** A: I have both the pepper and salt grinders. The internal workings of the two are the same - they both have ceramic grinders. The only difference, other than the salt coming pre-filled with salt and the pepper with pepper, is the ring around the OXO badge on the top of the grinder. The salt is white and the pepper is black. **Q: Does the 5 grind settings get in the way of your hands while grinding?** A: No **Q: Is this a set (two) or just one grinder?** A: When I purchased my set of grinders from OXO, it was 49.95 for both. I do not know if they are sold individually.
