The diamond shaped blade is bevelled on one side only, allowing the flat side close contact with a straight edge or cutting guide when laying out particularly across the grain of the wood. Review: Marks wood more accurately than a pencil - Seems decent, not much to go wrong Review: Surprised and very impressed - Firstly, the item looks nothing like the picture, the knife has rounded hardwood handle with a very attractive deep grain with a large ferrule to hold the blade, which is diamond-shaped ( or more accurately rhombus-shaped ) with a major axis of 40mm, which gives two marking edges of just over 15mm that come to a robust sharp point, a point which is excellent for making small marking points, which is a big improvement on my previous various half-measures. The blade body has a very reassuring and robust thickness of 3.4mm, it is very very flat on one side and the two sharp marking edges are created by large bevels of the blade. The whole thing feels light to hold and looks sculptured and elegant and is a pleasure to look at. A very very nice tool that is beautifully proportioned and functional, and only £6 or so, so top marks for value for money too. The shape of the blade will give you something to think about. Came sharp straight out the packet, seems a good quality blade and well made. I’ve knocked a star off as the finish on the handle is horrible.
