**Q: How thick is the blade, is it as thick as a normal combat bokken, or as thin as an actual blade?**
A: It is not as thick as a blade. It is thicker almost like a combat bokken. Great quality though very light weight.

**Q: How long is the sword**
A: The sword is 39in (99cm) long overall. The blade length is 29in (73cm). Hope that helps.

**Q: would a bamboo Bokken be more durable compared to polypropylene?**
A: if its bamboo you're after you'll want a shinai, commonly used in kendo martial arts.

**Q: Is the sword hollow or solid plastic?**
A: solid but still lightweight, the weight reduction appears to be achieved by making it thinner in cross section by a typical wooden bokken, mine is robust enough to handle regular heavy kumitachi and free sparring both against the same weapon and wooden bokken

We bought two of these, one for me, one for my son. The katana bokken is excellent and is based on a wooden bokken rather than an actual sword and comes complete with wooden grain effect texture. The handle is very nice with a simulated grip. It comes in 2 parts, the blade and handle is one piece and the guard (tsuba) slides over the end and clips into place. The scabbard feels very thin and cheap, more like the kind of thing you get on kids medieval swords but does come with a strip of material so that you can tie your own sageo - i quite enjoyed doing that by following various videos on youtube (not allowed to link but a search for "Katana Sageo Presentation Knot- by Samurai market" will sort you out). The strip is a bit short for a full 6 wraps though so i would only attempt 5. I have a ColdSteel trench hawk and this sword seems to be just as good quality. What i would point out though is that it is a lot cheaper to buy directly from Playwell's website (though of course you don't have amazon's backing if things were to go wrong) and you also need to be aware that the swords come wrapped in bubblewrap with no box to hide what you have bought. The thing is pretty much indestructible so you don't have to worry about damage but it does mean that your postman might wonder what you are doing! Scabbard aside, it feels like a high quality item and i am sure it will withstand many a blow. Playwell actually do full coloured versions as well which are worth a look.
