Can double as a torch too, which is useful. The fact that it's small, portable and cheap means you can take it out and about with you. Which is all very well if you just want to gaze at random things -( threads that looks like rope, the surface of a leaf etc ). But if you want to look at SPECIFIC things- ( hallmarks on metal, watch parts etc) you will find it surprisingly difficult to locate the exact detail you want to see.
