Step 1 With clean hands, roll ball between fingers for 20 seconds to soften the silicone before applying. Ensure ear plug retains ball shape. Step 2 Ensure ear is clean and dry. Reach over the head and lift top of ear upwards. Step 3 Applying MINIMUM pressure, use your thumb to GENTLY press silicone ball OVER external ear canal entrance to seal. DO NOT PUSH INTO EAR CANAL. They are little silicone balls that are initially quite sticky (be careful with long hair!). You push them in your ear and they mould to the shape of your inner ear. They block out most of the sound, though I can still hear very faint noise but this is no different to with foam ear plugs. Most importantly, they stay in all night! I've been using these for weeks and not once have they fallen out. I've also not had any soreness in my ear canals. It says to only use each pair once but I've been using each pair for about a week at a time and it's been fine. I stop using them once they become difficult to roll into a ball. They are extremely effective in cutting noise - proof being that I live near train tracks and have terrible neighbours upstairs, and they cut both off. Excellent value for money, especially when bought in bulk, which is what you should do if you use them constantly and need to replace a pair every few days. Small but useful extra is that they come in a nice casing which closes nicely so you can keep the earplugs right by the bed without dust getting in. One star off simply cos they are not perfect e.g. if you accidentally drop one they collect fluff easily and you can't really clean that off, so you have to replace.
