I regularly create mini busts of characters using this and find it is superb, not that much difference between this and super sculpey. It shapes excellently, well worth buying a proper sculpting kit for the detail and takes paint well when baked. Translucent does not mean transparent or see-through. This material still allows some light through whilst simultaneously its colours. Almost all the colours available (ACCEPT the very dark ones; like Black, Brown, the Deeper Blues and Darker Reds) are, up-to a certain point, translucent or opaque in VERY THINN SECTION. That is to say; about 1 to 4 millimetres thick in flat sheet sections. At these thicknesses, bright light can still pass through. This can be achieved very accurately & consistently by using flat wooden lolly-pop sticks as your thickness gauges when rolling the sheets out with a rolling-pin on either greaseproof paper or cling-film. To avoid the modelling compound from sticking; lightly dust the working surface and tools with Dry Baking Soda (commonly known as Sodium Bicarbonate) This is easily removed with a damp cloth or brush, after the baking and cooling process has been completed. Often sticks to silicone tools. Even still, it’s the best value for money in terms of the quantity of clay you get, and it’s good quality stuff.
